Thirty organisations will share $220,000 as part of the 2025 WA Youth Engagement Grants Program, supporting diverse projects aimed at empowering young people across Western Australia.

The WA Youth Engagement Grants Program supports local governments and community service organisations in implementing innovative projects that engage young people aged 10 to 25 in creative ways and help achieve positive outcomes.

This Grants program focuses on equipping young people with essential skills to transition to independence, participate actively in community life, and achieve their personal and professional goals 鈥 a key priority for the government as outlined in this year鈥檚 new Youth Action Plan.

This year鈥檚 grant recipients include:

  • Shire of Dowerin鈥檚 The Money Mindset project, which empowers young people with financial skills;
  • YME YNot? by the Shire of Gingin, which inspires young people to start micro-businesses;
  • Youth Impact Operations鈥 Albany Changemakers Initiative, which develops leadership, entrepreneurial and life skills; and
  • Arche Health鈥檚 thirdspace initiative, which provides a safe space for neurodivergent youth to build life skills and social connections.

Among the notable recipients is Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community La Grange (BACLG), who will support the Fan the Flames of Change program.

BACLG Community Services Manager Clare McLean says the program will support young people in the remote Bidyadanga community to develop practical life skills that enable them to function independently and help build a vibrant and resilient community.

鈥淒uring this wet season, young people will work together to strengthen their resilience through leadership opportunities as well as cultural, sporting and art-based engagement activities, culminating in a Youth Festival in June 2025,鈥 she said.

鈥淚t will build leadership skills to enable young people to have a voice in decisions and activities made about them.
鈥淭his funding provides extra resources to enable our team to invest in innovative activities to ensure our youth are engaged and excited about their future.鈥

The WA Youth Engagement Grants Program is open yearly to organisations that meet the eligibility criteria and deliver their projects in Western Australia. More information about the WA Youth Engagement Grants Program including WA Youth Engagement Grants Program - recipients can be found online.
