Construction has commenced on the new vessel transfer path at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC), with the WA Recovery Plan project creating local jobs and bolstering WA鈥檚 case to secure high value defence industry projects.

Staff from the Department joined the Premier and Minister for Defence Industry to view the progress of the new vessel transfer path.

Due for completion in mid 2021, the transfer path will create better connectivity across the complex, between the floating dock, shipbuilding and sustainment facilities.

$87.6 million has been invested to fast-track the projects as part of the WA Recovery Plan.

The three other projects being delivered at the AMC include a new shipbuilding facility, a major wharf extension and road intersection upgrades.

The projects will enhance AMC's reputation as Australia's key defence industry hub and support the Royal Australian Navy鈥檚 plans to grow and sustain their fleet. Importantly the infrastructure will work towards securing Defence contracts, like Full Cycle Docking, helping to diversify the WA economy and create jobs.
