McCusker intern Saloni Singh

Saloni Singh is a Master of International Law and Master of International Relations student who recently interned with the Department of Communities WA through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship.

She worked on a project researching the state of volunteering in WA, with a focus on corporate volunteering, to provide insights to inform future work.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great experience that allows you to give back to the community in a meaningful way and develop skills and build professional connections outside your immediate circle,鈥 she said.

The McCusker internship program gives students opportunities to intern in a range of roles across the public sector, and bring fresh thinking and skills to agencies.

Kate White was Saloni鈥檚 supervisor at the Department of Communities and said Saloni鈥檚 contribution had informed the WA Volunteering Strategy and associated activities.

鈥淪aloni鈥檚 fresh perspective and diligent approach helped our agency and ultimately the WA community that benefits from the work we do.鈥

Interns complete a discrete project over 100 hours of work experience and can work over a semester or during the summer and winter semester breaks.

If your agency has a meaningful project or activity that an intern could add value to apply now for 2024.
