Collie will be the site of the latest big battery to be connected to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), the electricity grid supplying power to Perth and more than one million homes and businesses between Geraldton and Esperance and east to Kalgoorlie.

Synergy鈥檚 Big Battery, announced to be located in Collie, will help ready the state鈥檚 power grid for the retirement of coal-fired power stations by improving system security and supporting increased renewable energy generation in the SWIS.

Scheduled for completion in 2025, it will provide 2,000 megawatt hours of power when fully charged, providing WA鈥檚 power grid with the capacity it needs to remain reliable and affordable as the State moves towards emissions-free power generation in 2030.
