Overview
The Department of Communities and the community services sector are working together to ensure the most vulnerable people in Western Australia are supported through the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure services continue to be provided to the people we support.
Taskforces
Taskforces were established in March 2020 to combine the efforts of community sector service partners and the State so that joint service delivery was targeted where it was needed the most.
The taskforces:
- planned and responded to the impact of COVID-19 on Western Australia’s vulnerable people
- planned and responded to ensure vulnerable people had access to essential services
- ensured that solutions to challenges had a cultural oversight by Communities’ Director General Cultural Council.
The taskforces focused on:
- people with disability
- family and domestic violence
- homelessness
- seniors
- children in care
- Aboriginal outcomes and partnerships
- remote Aboriginal communities
- mental health and alcohol and other drugs
- young people.
