The Western Australian Buy Local Policy (WA Buy Local Policy) 2022 is designed to provide local businesses with enhanced access to the government market through the application of a range of initiatives and price preferences.

The Western Australian Buy Local Policy 2002 was first updated in 2020 to support the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) under the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017. There is a strong link between WAIPS and the WA Buy Local Policy, with the policy covering procurement below the WAIPS threshold values and focusing more on regional sourcing.

The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation is the lead agency for the WA Buy Local Policy. To facilitate the application of the policy we have signed implementation agreements with the highest spending agencies listed below.

Agencies that haven鈥檛 signed an implementation agreement, are conducting the majority of their procurement activities through the Department of Finance or the value of their procurement activities does not need an implementation agreement.

The WA Buy Local Policy 2002 is no longer in circulation. Agencies should incorporate the WA Buy Local Policy 2022 into their procurement process as soon as possible.
