This fact sheet sets out land use planning and statutory approval considerations relevant to tiny houses in Western Australia. It seeks to assist the treatment of tiny houses in planning instruments, particularly in the implementation of the Residential Design Codes Volume 1 and the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015. It also explains the point of difference between buildings and structures regulated under planning and building legislation versus caravans and park homes regulated under the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995.
