The River restoration manual is a series of guidelines on the nature, rehabilitation and long-term management of waterways in Western Australia. The chapters of the series collectively form the manual. 

This chapter contextualises waterways management within the regional planning framework and recommend components for inclusion in a regional natural resource management strategy. The various waterways issues that might be considered as part of a regional strategy are also outlined.
