The Helena Water Resource Recovery Catchment (WRRC) is that part of the Helena River catchment upstream of the Mundaring Weir and is termed the Mundaring catchment in this report.
The scope of this Salinity Situation Statement was to provide guidance for water resource management in the Mundaring catchment (not the reservoir). It describes the catchment, its history, the salinity situation, management scenarios and compatible land uses.
An important component of the program is to assess both the current state of the targeted rivers and to evaluate options available to recover/retain stream salinity to drinking water levels.
