Ageing with Choice: Future Directions for Seniors Housing 2019-2024 (Ageing with Choice) report was released in October 2019 and ended on 1 October 2024. This report aimed to improve housing choice and outcomes for older Western Australians.

The Ageing with Choice report sought to increase housing choice to enable older Western Australians to age in place, through a variety of actions led by multiple government agencies.

The most current document that outlines the State government鈥檚 priorities to address the needs of older Western Australian鈥檚 is the WA Seniors Strategy.

Housing Assistance and Advice

If you are considering housing options

The is a free, independent information and advice service covering the full range of housing options for seniors in WA. It is delivered by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. The centre does not directly offer housing, or provide financial and legal advice, but can be an invaluable source of information for seniors and their families.

For more information on the many housing options available; from modifying or redeveloping existing homes to renting or moving into a strata titled community, a residential park or retirement village, see the  web page.

The  provides a variety of offers for members, including rebates on local government rates and utilities.

Your local Council offers a variety of services to help older people remain in their home.

If you need help around the house or think it鈥檚 time to look into aged care homes, visit the Commonwealth鈥檚 website.

If you think you may be entitled to apply for public housing

To be eligible for public housing you must meet the Department of Communities  at the time of making an application, while waiting for a house and before an offer is made. Find out more about .
