Our diversity and inclusion vision statement

We have a progressive, supportive and inclusive culture where employees feel valued, respected and connected. 

The diversity of our workforce is our strength, it enhances our ability to be forward thinking as well as responsive in the services we deliver to the Western Australian community, and recognises intergenerational care for Country by traditional custodians and provides genuine opportunities for Aboriginal people within our workforce. 

We are committed to provide employment opportunities to diverse groups. This may include targeted programs and pathways for equal opportunity, and measures to achieve particular outcomes. 

As part of this commitment, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and youth may be given priority consideration over other applicants to achieve public sector outcomes. 

Disability employment

Our department is committed to providing employment opportunities to all people in our community, including people with disability.

We will work with staff to understand their needs and provide workplace adjustments, equipment and support where reasonably possible to ensure people with disability have the same opportunities as all to gain meaningful employment and perform the inherent requirements of their role. 

This includes providing adjustments for every part of the recruitment process from application interview, onboarding and throughout employment.

Diversity and Inclusion events

Our department runs a calendar of Diversity and Inclusion events throughout the year for our diverse workforce. These include celebrations, acknowledgements, raising awareness, educating and storytelling to support inclusion and highlight important social issues.
