WA Police Force acknowledge historical inequalities in services provided to Aboriginal people and communities. Our commitment is to enhance the accessibility and equity of policing services for Aboriginal people and the wider community.
We take responsibility for engaging with Aboriginal communities to co-create strategies that promote safety and security for all Western Australians. We commit to collaborate with Aboriginal groups, agencies, and service providers to foster safe, resilient, and sustainable communities.
Recognising the great diversity among Aboriginal people and communities, we respect the traditional owners and custodians of lands throughout Western Australia.
Aboriginal Affairs Division
Aboriginal Affairs Division is committed to taking a leadership role in fostering improved relationships with Aboriginal people. Strengthening partnerships with Aboriginal people and communities will greatly enhance our capability to respond to their needs with care and empathy at all times.
As an agency, it is crucial for us to deepen our understanding of Aboriginal culture and traditions, thereby increasing our respect for their custodianship of our state. By cultivating this respect and integrating it into our organisational culture and service delivery, we aim to build stronger relationships and achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Central to this vision is the implementation of an integrated program focused on growth and cultural security. This is inclusive of developing a cohesive Aboriginal Employee Network and initiatives to improve service delivery to Aboriginal communities.
