We have introduced an escalation protocol to improve the management of environmental impact assessments (EIA) under Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act).
While we work directly with proponents to resolve any issues that arise during the assessment process, the escalation protocol provides a pathway for proponents of significant proposals under Part IV of the EP Act to escalate assessment issues directly to senior executive officers for timely resolution.
We will aim to respond promptly to escalation requests by advising proponents whether the request is best addressed through the escalation protocol process, and if so, who their assessment issue has been escalated to.
For assessment issues not covered by the escalation protocol, proponents will be advised about the best pathway for resolving their issue.

The assessing officer assigned to your proposal will be able to advise whether the escalation protocol is an appropriate next step for your proposal.
